Open your Home Assistant instance and start setting up Robot Vacuum Map.

Setting it up

1

Sign in to Xiaomi

Use the Xiaomi account the Xiaomi Home app uses, not a Roborock or Dreame app account. Sign in with the username and password, or with a QR code or login link. Xiaomi may ask for a captcha or a two-factor code, and the setup asks for each in turn.
2

Choose the vacuum

Asked only when the account has more than one.
3

Confirm the details

The vacuum’s local address and its token come from the cloud, and the map API is detected from the model. See Supported vacuums for how a model maps to an API.
When the Xiaomi session expires, Home Assistant asks you to sign in again from the integration’s card rather than removing it.

Adjusting the map

The integration’s Configure button opens five sections:

Scale

A new entry draws the map four times the size of the cloud map’s grid, with the elements’ sizes multiplied to match.
An entry set up before 0.8.0 keeps drawing at its old scale of 1 until you raise Image dimensions → Scale. Raise Map elements’ sizes by the same factor, so that the path and the robot keep their size against the map.
Walls and rooms cannot get finer than the grid itself, which on the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S20+ is 5 cm to a cell.

With Xiaomi Home

When Xiaomi’s own integration, Xiaomi Home, also has the S20+, the robot moves on the map each time Xiaomi Home reports its position, about every 2 seconds, and its path follows it. The map is drawn again from its last download, so this asks nothing more of Xiaomi’s cloud. Robot Vacuum Map reads Xiaomi Home’s entities through Home Assistant and never imports its code, so its map device sits beside Xiaomi Home’s device rather than on it.
